Marlen Bieber will join the Deutsche Oper Berlin in season 2026/27 as part of the Talent Circle. There, her roles will include Hänsel, Tebaldo, Flora Bervoix, Alisa, and the Second Maid; she will also participate in the new production of In 80 Tagen um die Welt. The mezzo-soprano is a finalist in the German Music Competition 2026 and was awarded a concert scholarship. At the 2024 Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino, she received the Eva Kleinitz Award. Furthermore, she is a finalist in the 2024 International Robert Schumann Competition and a prize winner of the 2022 DEBUT Classical Singing Competition. Bieber is a scholarship holder of the Festival der jungen Stimmen, the Richard Wagner Association Chemnitz, and the Musique et Vin au Clos Vougeot festival. While still a student, she was engaged by the Oper Chemnitz, where she appeared from 2020 to 2026 in roles including Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Muse/Niklas in Tales of Hoffmann, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, the Fox in The Cunning Little Vixen, Flora and Annina in La Traviata, Mercédès in Carmen, Giovanna in Rigoletto and Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel. The latter production was also released on DVD in a recording by. She has also appeared as a guest artist at venues such as the Musiktheater im Revier and the Staatsoperette Dresden. Concert singing is a great passion of the mezzo-soprano. She has performed under the direction of conductors such as Hans-Christoph Rademann and Joseph Bastian, and with orchestras including the Münchner Symphoniker (Mozart, Requiem), the Chamber Orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin (Bruch, Gruß an die Heilige Nacht), the Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne, the Robert Schumann Philharmonie (Mahler, Symphony No. 8), and the Junge Philharmonie Wien (Mahler, Symphony No. 3). She has appeared as a guest artist at venues such as the Herkulessaal in Munich, the Konzerthaus Berlin, and the Arnold Schönberg Center in Vienna, as well as at festivals including the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks and the Dresden Music Festival. Furthermore, she performs regularly in major oratorios by Johann Sebastian Bach. In 2025, the Musique & Vin au Clos Vougeot festival presented the mezzo-soprano as a "Jeune Talent" in a series of concerts, including performances alongside Jean-Yves Thibaudet. She maintains a regular artistic partnership with the internationally renowned Lied pianist Daniel Heide. Her ever-expanding repertoire spans from Franz Schubert to Alexander von Zemlinsky and beyond. Marlen Bieber studied voice at the University of Music Dresden from 2016 to 2021. She received further valuable artistic guidance in the Lied class of Kammersänger Prof. Olaf Bär, as well as through numerous masterclasses led by artists such as Kammersängerin Brigitte Fassbaender, Hedwig Fassbender, and Jukka Rasilainen.
